I currently work both on and offsite for various clients with work ranging from hand drawn layouts and concept work to producing digital artwork for brochures, advertisements, home shopping catalogues etc on Apple Mac OSX/OS9. This also includes image manipulation in Photoshop, linking all images electronically, collecting for output, file preflight, and handing over to print production.

Duties then: To ensure a creative and practical design approach to off the page selling, producing ideas and concepts that support the marketing and buying strategy. Liaise with internal publications teams, buyers and marketeers to produce layouts and artwork from a detailed brief to print deadlines. To produce a brief for photographic shoots using visual references as required. Plan and art direct photographic shoots ensuring the brief from buying and marketing is complete. Appraise images technically and creatively for suitability to print, Using computer packages to design / make up pages and produce artwork ready for presentation to internal departments. Present completed sections to managers and buyers. Make suitable amends before passing to print production. Check cromalins for creative continuity and accuracy.

Responsible for the running of a small team of artworkers and the day to day functioning of the studio. This role also included client liaison, stock control, timesheet/admin control reporting directly to the Managing Director. The job covered all aspects from layout/visualisation, finished artwork, art directing, exhibition design, trade & technical advertising, and consumer advertising.

I produced mainly finished artwork briefed to me by the creative staff for a variety of clients whilst gaining valuable on the job experience. I was involved with darkroom procedures in the production of black and white printing, photo studio set design and build, illustration, exhibition panel production, and creative artwork.
