CV (Curriculum Vitae) / Résumé

I am a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly driven leader, programme/ project manager and business consultant who values commitment, excellence and precision. I am passionate about ensuring full stakeholder involvement in projects and work hard to ensure customers and projects teams see the project as a proactive partnership moving towards a successful shared series of goals. I have a demonstrable track record of successful business transformation and implementation project completions across England, Scotland & Wales and of leading change management within local government. I remain passionate about public sector issues and have devoted my career to working within this sector as a practitioner, manager, consultant and project manager.
I am fully able to utilise my experience in all elements of leading successful business transformation including business case and engagement/vision definition/ stakeholder management/benefits realisation/ blueprint documentation through to implementation, deployment and review. In addition to my thorough understanding of the impact and implications of transformation change issues I also have many years experience of managing teams of staff and have an open and facilitative style to coaching and leadership.
I can also demonstrate effective and successful communication and negotiation experience with stakeholders at all levels from Project Board, senior/ corporate management, practitioners, suppliers, Human Resources, Audit, Legal etc. I am fully experienced in full programme/project life cycles with extensive experience of working within PRINCE2 as a qualified PRINCE2 practitioner and am currently preparing to complete my MSP practitioner examinations in November 2009.
I am proud of my extensive “on the ground” management and practitioner experience within local government and at a senior level within the private sector. I believe it to be an important factor in my success to date. I have managed front line, consultancy and project management services and led organisational transformational change including team visioning and development, outsourcing of services, changes in terms and conditions/ redeployment, benefits realisation and cost savings. I have strong commercial awareness within my consultancy and project management roles and am expected to deliver not only projects within budget but also to recognise additional opportunities and where possible develop them from initial vision to agreement and delivery. I relish the opportunity to work within defined targets and am able to use them to prioritise and focus my activities in a proactive way. I believe my success to be directly aligned with that of the customer and work hard to identify and realise key benefits throughout the programme/ project.
I count as a key skill my ability to generate and maintain strong customer relationships and have many years experience working in procurement and sales activities within my career. I am very aware and familiar with working within the boundaries within which the public sector can procure.
I can demonstrate first class analytical, design and problem solving skills with a determination to do things right first time. I am resourceful, adaptable and able to influence through logical reasoning.
I am an expert user of a range of Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, Project, One Note and Sharepoint.

Employment History

(Mar 2006 to Dec 2009)

Head of Professional Services

Consultancy and project management is based around business transformation and care management system implementation and is deployed into highly business critical and visible local authority services (looked after children, adoption, child and adult protection etc.). As well as having principal responsibility for all UK customer services (as line manager) I have successfully completed a range of customer and internal projects as principal project manager. I am currently directly project managing a number of business change and application implementation projects in different local authorities across the country. These projects involve significant organisational change and process realignment. I am expected to lead these projects/ programmes throughout their lifecycle from business case, planning, stakeholder engagement, project governance, deployment, and service delivery.
As part of my role I proactively manage and resolve potential service, change, budget and risk issues and have developed a methodology within the organisation based on effective communication inwards and externally. This methodology is based upon firm PRINCE2 and MSP principles and allows us to quickly highlight risks and also provide “as it happens” progress information to stakeholders. This is based in my passion for providing effective quality services responses from and to every member of the team.
As lead of the team I have been heavily involved in the development of major business strategies, system development and deployment. I was the lead on the development of our response in partnership with partner authority’s to the Department of Health (DH) on Connecting for Health and Personalisation. I have a strong understanding of the implications and opportunities offered by the “Transforming Social Care” and “Putting People First” agendas and have been able to utilise this in my work within the projects I am involved with. I successfully led the team through the development and deployment of compliant ICS systems across our customer base responding to criteria defined by the Department for Childrens Schools and Families (DCSF). I was able to utilise partnerships with the DCSF, SWTF and key customer partners in local authorities to achieve this. I am currently leading on assisting customers with expertise and consultancy on the business impact of GCSX and PD0008 within the public sector. I have successfully completed a number of projects implementing business critical document management system deployment and integration in line with ESCR requirements. I am currently working on a process re-alignment design and implementation of a client and case management system within a young persons drug prevention project in the North East. All of these projects have involved extensive organisational change in the way that process and individuals/ teams function and interact with each other with customers and with external suppliers. The project management role includes budget responsibility and I work hard to ensure there is a clear understanding of the scope and limitations of the project and that potential additional revenue, cost or development streams are identified early.
In my current position I am also a member of the CareWorks Senior Management Team. I have line management responsibility for a small team of UK based Project Managers, Management Consultants and Trainers. I have successfully recruited each team member and am proud of a strong team ethic and shared goal set. I was responsible for the development and implementation of a personal development/ appraisal methodology within CareWorks. I am a confirmed believer in the maintenance of effective communication within the teams that I manage and work hard to ensure that the input of each team member is valued and that every persons potential is realised. At the same time I believe that leadership is best expressed from the front and have been able to communicate my expectations and beliefs to each member of the team.
