WorthingIn 2006 I gave up my full-time role at the solicitors to become a foster carer but the solicitors still had a need for my skills and I worked on a part-time basis covering holidays from Summer 2006 to Summer 2008.
Responsibilities: Family Law - going through the morning post including diarising dates from Court Orders, typing un-dictated letters, audio typing, filing, file management, diarising interview and Hearings/Court dates, advising clients with regard to the basic matrimonial procedures and forms, Court Orders and Court fees. I have knowledge of the conflict checks and confidentiality needs in this area of law.
Skills needed: Audio typing, organisational skills, well presented manner and good/understanding telephone manner to include a sensitive and organised nature.
Achievements/Improvements made: When I started in the Family Law department of NLH I did not have any knowledge of Family Law so I gained and learnt, within about six months, the procedures, rules and regulations.
Between 2006 and 2009 I worked for this firm of solicitors on a freelance basis as they still needed my professional skills within the workplace. I still continue to help them out from time to time when they need me.
