UK-wide charity promoting the support of families who have a child with disabilities. I have successfully lobbied to have the model of support developed by the Handsel Trust incorporated into the National Service Framework. Role includes line-managing the staff team; commissioning and editing research publications, managing research projects, writing and managing the website and newsletter; running annual conference. WordWorks is an independent consultancy specialising in research but also incorporating consultancy and training on management issues and capacity building in the voluntary sector. I undertake all elements of social research projects, from inception to dissemination. I am trained and experienced in quantitative and qualitative research methods and analysis, project development and management, fieldwork, planning and analysis.

Regular long-term contributor of published articles on a range of issues. Recent topics have included the implications of The Big Society for small organisations; the meaning of social enterprise; the role of voluntary work for managers in third sector organisations. Additionally, I continually edit Croner’s loose-leaf manual to take account of new initiatives and legal developments

Sole responsibility for the research and evaluation elements of assignments undertaken by the Foundation. Red Foundation is a social action development agency promoting volunteering.
