CV (Curriculum Vitae) / Résumé

Work History:

Currently - Freelance

January 2012 - 6 month fixed contract: Hambury Hird Design Ltd
In January of this year I was successful in obtaining a position as senior interior architect/designer at HHD.
During the period I have been with this company I have mainly been working on a project for BMW’s new flagship showroom in Park lane, London.
The work on this project has been interesting and divers from extremely high level detailing and specification through site meetings and project co-ordination which should lead to the project’s completion and subsequent projects later in 2012.

October 2011 - January 2012: Freelance
Due to the closure of R8; I required to use my skills freelancing in interior design and 3d walkthrough animation during this period completing 2 projects for Schlumberger UK (Main reception and training rooms) and carrying out a feasibility and concept design for a new resource centre for Priory Community School. This work and some office planning and survey work filled this period whilst I looked for new permanent employment.

May 2007 - October 2011: R8 (Reloc8 Ltd
Prior to the closure of R8, I was employed as Senior Designer for this Bristol based company, where my role included working with client accounts such as, Britvic Soft Drinks, Cambridge Assessment, Nationwide Building Society, Sage UK, Siemens, Carillion, John Lewis and Covien, is to develop office designs, refurbishment schemes, full detail drawings, specifications, and space planning solutions to enhance the working environment. These projects, have varying budgets from thousands of pounds up several hundred thousand and a million plus.
This involves not only my design skills, but use of occupancy and space data gathered through a multitude of methods to formulate designs, using new ways of working, to make better use of the clients space allowing them to reduce their property portfolio, whilst retaining good quality workspace and enhancing the working environment.
I am involved in speculative tender work, wining new accounts, creating innovative designs and presentations both in hard copy and direct to client formats, using a multitude of media such as 2D plans, 3D walkthrough/visuals, PowerPoint animation and written tender documents

June 2005 - May 2007:
Freelance work in Spain, developing housing and landscape designs for local builders and
individual clients.

1997 - 2005: The Yellow Studio Ltd: Interior Design & Architectural services consultancy.
Creating my own business started in ‘97 as a sole trader it quickly expanded to a limited company with a co-partner and junior designer. The business was started due to a requirement by clients for a more flexible company to carry out project that were of widely varying sizes and complexities, from simple house & bar refurbishment's to complete redesigns and new builds in the domestic and commercial fields including new green field housing, bars, restaurants, offices, hotels and hostels with budgets from a few thousand pounds up to several million pounds.
The company was successful throughout its 8.5 years of trading, allowing me a career break in Spain.
This success was a direct result of my ability to listen to clients briefs and thereafter supply them with a tailored product meeting their needs, using my skills in CAD and Photoshop for presentation and detailing, as well as verbal and visual presentation skills, completing projects on time while producing a high standard of production information in the form of drawings and specifications.

1990 - 1997: Burns Design Ltd: Interior Design Consultants.
I was employed by BDL as a Senior Designer.
The practice was involved in projects primarily in the housing and leisure industry designing new build housing, bars, hotels, and restaurants. In 1991 the company went fully CAD based using both PC and Mac based systems.

1987 - 1990: B.S.D Ltd: Interior Design Consultancy.
This was my first job after graduating and therein where my knowledge gained at college was put into a practical commercial situation where new skills in client liaison, detailing & knowledge of building trades was quickly gained and expanded as essential tools of my job.
